Bell wins BPSA Advocacy Award
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Bell Sports received the Bicycle
Parts Supplier’s Association (BPSA) award for national advocacy
at the 2007 Bicycle Leadership Conference in San Diego, Calif. on Feb.
6. The award is presented annually to the company who makes outstanding
bike advocacy efforts on a national scale.
“Bikes Belong’s mission of getting more people on more bikes
more often is critical for the health of our industry, the health of our
country and, indeed, the health of our planet,” said Bell CEO Bill
Fry. “And while we at Bell are proud to be recognized for our efforts
in these regards, it has been a collaborative effort of many in the industry,
and it needs to continue and expand. Having more riders is central to
our future, and advocacy needs to be a top priority of every supplier,
retailer and participant in bicycling.”
While Bell has been particularly involved in Bikes Belong activities over
the past several years, the company is also supportive of several bicycling
initiatives and groups, including the International Mountain Bike Association
(IMBA), the California Bike Coalition, the Bike Federation of Wisconsin,
the National Safe Kids Campaign and the BPSA’s Advocacy Committee.
Fry, who is leaving Easton Bell Sports next month, was president of Bikes
Belong in 2004 and 2005.
